Ice Cream-Headed Birdman Fucking An Antelope

Im not sure what I like more, the title or the actual piece of work. I just love the absurdity and frivolity of this piece by Luke Gottelier.
Totally bizarre !

Apparently Connor says boom

Brilliant paintings by Conor Harrington that combine traditional fine art and street art. I think they speak for themselves really, so enjoy.
Here's his blog ! Ch Ch Check it out !

?

So I have an interview for an art foundation course on wednesday. But how am I meant to be able to tell someone about myself when I don't even know who I am ?

Lady Bird Sex

When Vice magazine unleashed hibernating lady bugs into their studio an orgy broke out (as apparently when unleashed from their hibernation they are extremely horny). Apparently the studios were overwhelmed by the smell of ladybird sex.
However this was totally worth it as the resulting shots are brilliant !

Sous-Vetements

This film by Alexis Mabille could be beautiful because it captures the vulnerable moment between nightmares and dreams, sleep and consciousness.

Or it could be because there is a mans naked torso invovled in it. I'm not sure . . .

provocative MILK

Australian Photographer Lukas Gansterer's new exhibition makes milk provocative.
Heres a few quotes from an interview for Dazed and Confused magazine explaining his work.

Dazed Digital: How do you explore 'milk' in your new exhibition?Lukas Gansterer: My main finding was that milk smells really sour after half an hour (laughs). Actually, the exhibition shows a girl playing with milk and the gallery space will be covered in polythene sheets, which are also used in porn movies. When I started to work on this topic, I recognised that images become really progressive and bold if they show milk, especially on a female body.

DD: How did the idea of using milk first inspire you?Lukas Gansterer: I saw a girl drinking milk. That was enough inspiration.

DD: What role does porn play in your work? What is it about that appeals to you as 'art'?Lukas Gansterer: Provocation has always been a theme of my work. Over the last two years "porn aesthetics" have started to play a more important role. I have never really been concerned with photography in relation to art. To refer to a photo as a piece of art doesn’t necessarily make it better. I want to take strong pictures. The viewer should start to think about the moment and situation I have captured, not about the issue of whether it is art or not.

Oh Angus please don't kill yourself

These are a couple of quick pics I did inspired by artist Angus Fairhurst (who I have recently discovered committed suicide on the final day of his 3rd solo exhibition. This is something that touches a significant nerve within me and makes me so sad that someone so talented has taken his life if only I could have given him a hug on that day and told him everything would be ok.)

This is an example of his work, so much better than mine.

I like to stuff dead animals

Polly Morgans desire to preserve animals lead to her use of taxidermy as an art form. She places these animals in unexpected scenery instead of displaying them in their traditional way. This lets you see these animals in a different way as if your are seeing them for the first time, so you can appreciate their real beauty.

 BEAUTIFUL

lets be friends

This is a collaborative piece by well know provocative fashion photographer Mario Testino and artist Maggie Cardelus. Maggie painstakingly hand cuts these images. They are absolutely stunning.

These are a couple of her pieces from her website, I urge you to take a look at it!  She uses photos that are personal to her, family and friends. They are meant to convey something about the nature of memories and by cutting sections out it creates a physical record of loss and decay. So they are as much about the creative process as the final product.

Oh jenny don't be hasty !

I absolutely love artist Jenny Saville, the brush strokes, the colours, the morbid poses, the nakedness, the grotesque beautifulness . . . this list could go on.

This is a cover she did for the Manic Street Preachers, it created a lot of controversy within supermarkets and a lot put a sleeve over the top of the CD when displayed in shops. How could you hide away this beauty?

Vivienne Westwood wants you to get a LIFE

Here is my interpretation of a dazed and confused magazine cover. It was for a project which they had organised and advertized on their website. Unfortunately I well and truly missed the deadline. Ooops.
